도담 영어학교는 학습자가 능동적으로 영어 독해 및 작문을 연습하는 것을 도와주기 위해 ‘100일 영어독해’를 펴내게 되었습니다. 이는 100일간 1일 1페이지씩 학습자가 직접 생각하면서 사전을 펼치고 해석해나가는 영어 독해연습장입니다. 장담하건데 이와 같이 하면 100일 뒤에는 영어 독해에 자신감이 생길 것입니다.
흔히들 하는 말이지만, 영어 학습에는 지름길은 없습니다. 다만 꾸준히 할 따름입니다. 오로지 정성을 다해 매일 매일 하는 수밖에 없습니다. 본 책이 그 학습을 도와줄 것이라고 확신하며 다음과 같이 본 책의 학습방법을 제시합니다.
1. 생각하는 독해를 해야 합니다. 글을 읽을 때 원문이 무엇을 전달하려고 하는 가를 생각해야 합니다.
2. 직독직해에 유의하시기 바랍니다. 빠른 시간에 독해 문제를 해결하려면 직독직해에 능숙해야 합니다. 원문에 표기된 끊어 읽기 표시(/)를 유의하면서 학습하십시오. 아울러, 끊어 읽기를 하면서 머릿속으로 그 뜻을 빨리빨리 정리해야 합니다.
2. 본문에서 생소한 단어를 마주치면 그 단어가 문장에서 어떤 뜻으로 쓰였는가를 생각하고 그 다음에 본문 밑에 표기된 영영단어풀이를 보고 그 단어의 뜻을 유추해 본 다음 사전을 펴고 그 뜻을 확인해야 합니다.
3. 영어를 숙달하는 가장 중요한 것은 영어에 대한 감각을 유지하는 것입니다. 1일 1페이지씩 하루도 빼놓지 않고 해야 합니다.
4. 학습자가 직접 뜻을 빈 칸에 적어 본 후 해석지와 비교대조하기 바랍니다.
5. 끝으로, 본문의 굵게 표시된 구문을 익혀서 영작문에 활용하고, 아울러 1일 1문장씩 작문을 해보기 바랍니다.
